Done with the Atchafalaya Basin!
By Marc SimardFirst of all, the Delta-X Spring campaign in the Atchafalaya Basin is officially and successfully over. Congrats to the field and airborne teams! Moving on to the Terrebonne Basin.
Today was a down day for all 3 aircraft.
ADCP transects collected in the Atchafalaya Basin
The Water Quality Team went to Mike Island and traced turbidity in the upper part of the island using a canoe.
- The original plan was to do 4 stations with samples and radiometry, but the canoe was not sufficiently stable to deploy the spectrometer for radiometry.
- Nonetheless, the team successfully traced turbidity from the secondary channel of the island through the northern parts of the island and observed quite a bit of variability.
- This data will be useful to assess the feasibility of applying AVIRIS to retrieve water quality over the islands. The plan is for the team to repeat such measurements in September.
Bill twice repeated 8 ADCP transects across the Atchafalaya River and Intra Coastal Waterway. Each was repeated a few times at different tide stages.
